Equity Speaker Series: The Story of an Angry Black Woman Scholar

Still Black, Still a Woman, Still a Scholar, but is she still Angry?

March 26, 2012, 12:00 - 1:30pm
School of Graduate Studies, Gradroom,
(Promotional Flyer)

This workshop will be a discussion about what can make graduate school difficult for people who encounter it as a space that does not expect them to be there. It will also be a discussion of why it could turn out to be the most thrilling and rewarding experience of your life.

Our discussion will include:

  • The reading of racialized, gendered and otherwise "othered" bodies in the classroom and at the front of the classroom
  • The role that all of us play in making the university a space of possibility and social change

Open only to Graduate Students at the University of Toronto

To register, please email: gradroom@utoronto.ca

Presented by:
Dr. Charmaine Williams, PhD. Associate Dean, Academic Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work

This event was organized in coordination with:
